Now, if you’re expecting a lecture about macros, meal prep, and grinding it out in the gym all December, this one might not be for you.
Let’s keep it real — December is here, and with it comes the festive season!
Christmas parties, events, food, drinks, celebration 🎉
All the good stuff!
If you’re anything like us, you want to hold onto some of the progress you’ve made this year without turning the holidays into a complete shit-show for your fitness goals.
The good news?
Unless you’re pro athlete or looking to make the Olympics (and even then you will have some wiggle room), you don’t need perfection — just a little strategy and balance.
Here are our five no-BS tips to help you navigate the season.
1. Don’t Ditch Your Training Altogether
You don’t need to smash out massive workouts every day to stay on track. A couple of short sessions a week can be enough to maintain your progress. Remember, maintenance is easier than starting over!
2. Stay Active, Even If You’re Taking a Break
If you’re saying “F that” to the gym for a bit, no worries (as long as its not too long). Just keep moving. Swim, walk, ride a bike, or chase the kids around the yard. Small actions add up and keep the momentum going.
3. Ditch the All-or-Nothing Mindset
Holidays are for connection and good times. Instead of going completely off-track or trying to be perfect, think moderation. Don’t flip the switch off—just turn the dial down.
4. Watch the Booze
Let’s be honest — if you enjoy an alcoholic beverage, you’ll probably have one this holiday season (I know I will be). Waking up hungover can wreck your motivation to stay active and lead to more questionable choices. Slow it down, or plan your sessions around the bigger nights. Your future self will thank you.
5. Gains Are Made From New Year’s to Christmas, Not Christmas to New Year’s
Here’s the big one: a few indulgent days won’t undo your hard work.
Enjoy the holidays with the people you love—guilt-free. The real progress happens in the other 51 weeks of the year. Personally, here’s the Christmas matra I live by “Don’t be a SNOB, but don’t be a SLOB), borrow it if it helps 😂
The Bottom Line
The holidays aren’t about perfection—they’re about balance. Stick to these tips, and you’ll roll into the new year feeling strong, motivated, and ready to crush it.
Hoping yours is the best holiday season yet!
